New hosting

So, I've finally broken down and signed up for new web hosting. I will be moving my main site over the next couple of days. In the meantime, you can access the site here. I'll update this post once the regular todd.com address is working.

You sell what now?

Considering the average American's diet is there really a demand for this?

Online results

I haven't been playing that much online poker in the last few months, mostly due to having far better results from live games. The last few days have been good, though.

I took 7th out of 1081 players at a Full Tilt tourney a few days ago, and just now finished 6th in the final (and already missed) Wil Wheaton dot Net tourney at Poker Stars.

Thank you to Wil for creating and hosting the WWdN tourneys. I wish I had gotten to play in more of them.

You did what now?

Can someone explain the first highlight to me?

Please stop doing this, part two

The only thing that drives me more insane than people using 'loose' when then mean 'lose' is misuse of the word 'literally.'

The worst offenders are most often television sports announcers.

A few years ago I heard a football announcer say this:

"Eddie George literally lifted his entire team up on his shoulders and carried them to victory!"

His entire team? He lifted 53 people on his shoulders? Wow, you would think that NFL Films would have footage of that.

Can someone please explain?

Newt Gingrich, speaking at Liberty University:

"In hostility to American history, the radical secularists insist that religious belief is inherently divisive," Gingrich said, deriding what he called the "contorted logic" and "false principles" of advocates of secularism in American society.

"Basic fairness demands that religious beliefs deserve a chance to be heard," he said during his 26-minute speech. "It is wrong to single out those who believe in God for discrimination. Yet, today, it is impossible to miss the discrimination against religious believers."

A chance to be heard? Discrimination against people who believe in God?

Around 95% of people in this country profess to believe in God, it is virtually impossible for a non-believer to be elected to any sort of position above Condo Association president and mainstream media outlets like Time, Newsweek and my own hometown newspaper routinely cover religious issues in an almost entirely positive light.

So, can someone please explain to me exactly how the religious are marginalized and discriminated against? I'm serious, I would like a perspective from someone who feels this way.

It seems to me there is a huge gulf between not being catered to in every way and being discriminated against.

Please Stop Doing This!

The opposite of win is not loose.

You visit a web site, not a web sight.

They're is a contaction of the words they are. 'Their' is not the same thing.

Right means correct. Write means something else entirely.

If you only get one of these, please make it the lose/loose one. That drives me insane.

World Series Plans 2008

With the 2008 World Series of Poker fast approaching it's time to make plans for this year's events.

I will be playing in Event #49, $1500 No-Limit Hold'em. This is the same event I finished 78th in last year.

Following that event I will be playing in satellites to try to earn a seat in the Main Event.

As I did last year I will be selling shares of my action in the Main Event. If you are interested please email me. If you bought shares last year you will receive a preferred deal. If, for some reason, I do not play your money will be refunded.

a post from exile

I'm posting here until I get my access issues on the main site cleared up.

edit: I just imported all my old entries so everything is in one place.
